COVID-19: EBAss RECOMMENDATIONS on Patient Screening and Triage before starting HBO treatment
EBAss RECOMMENDATIONS
on Patient Screening and Triage before starting HBO treatment
Screening Hyperbaric Patients for COVID-19
Early Identification and Prevention of Transmission COVID-19
As the COVID-19 pandemic is stabilising, the return to normal daily life will also see the need to restart the HBOT. However, vigilance and measured steps must be taken for safe practice and to minimise the risks related to SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19-positive patients during HBOT.
The recommendations are attached by UHMS and EUBS & ECHM position statement on the use of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) for the treatment of COVID-19 patients, in combination with the current policy of the hospitals to which they belong.
However, in addition to these, three main points are suggested before a patient starts HBOT to be followed:
Measurement of Temperature.
Measurement of oxygen saturation.
The completion of a triage questionnaire (paper, email or phone) which is attached.
